Spring '06

June 7, 2006
Autumn has had a busy Spring.  It was full of activities, from sledding to geocaching, from music to Seaworld, and from camping to biking.  So many fun times, and a ton of pictures. So let's jump right in!

There was the music.  She got a very nice drum set for Christmas, which we managed to set up under her loft bed, just barely.  There was the little guitar, picked up at Chinese New Year celebration in downtown San Diego.

DSCF0173.jpg (369542 bytes) There were the numerous trips to the San Diego Zoo.  And, with new Seaworld passes, trips to there as well.  Which included enjoying the water-filled playground. IMG_2019.jpg (246663 bytes) DSCF0255.jpg (171359 bytes)

A mighty camping trip out to the desert, at the Agua Caliente hot springs.  Which included a big hike to a hidden treasure (a geocache, read more about them here.) IMG_2128.jpg (389149 bytes) DSCF0240.jpg (306069 bytes) DSCF0246.jpg (308935 bytes)

Developmentally, Autumn is doing fantastic.  She can count up into the forties, and countdown from ten.  She has a great mind for songs, and remembers the verses very well -- much better than Daddy can.  Her singing is wonderful, we're thinking of finding a voice teacher for her.  She's coloring well, and writes her name, sometimes backward (she's a lefty).  She's starting to sound out letters and words, and has a grasp on future and past (today, tomorrow, yesterday, next week, etc.) and the days of the week.  She knows her birthday is in January, and the name of the street we live on, and our condo number, and our city and those that her relatives live in.

Her eczema seems less pronounced than last year, but she's still prone to itching.  She's still demanding as ever, and sometimes becomes such a pill about saying no to whatever we ask of her.  But one scolded word, from us or a friend, and she'll dissolve into tears.  She HATES timeout, but she does sits quietly when she's put there.

Some of her more memorable quotes include, "Daddy, we need to get me some new shoes," she tells me very seriously as we go walking into the mall.  "When Marlow dies I will be sad and cry but then I'll get a new doggie."

She has reached 40 inches tall, which allows her to go on the rollercoaster ride at Seaworld, which she LOVES.  She really enjoys it.  There was a kid in line that was easily twice her age who was crying about going, and Autumn looked up at me and said, "I'm not scared."
