An Online Journal of Our Adoption Journey

Holiday Patience

Christmas 2002 has come and gone.  We've received a number of wonderful presents for Autumn, including an adorable Christmas stocking from Lise's sister Paula.  All of our relatives asked how the adoption was going, and whether we've heard anything.  It's really starting to get difficult to remain patient.

Back in November we got our third and final Hep B immunization shots.  I also received a flu shot, so now we're all set.

I've also joined a group website devoted to November, 2001 DTC (Dossier To China) adopting parents.  Called the QBQs (for Quick! Before Quotas!) it's located at Yahoo Groups and has over 450 members!  There's also myjourneyhome.com, which has a section devoted to the November group.

The group posts daily with information garnered about what's going on with the adoptions.  As the referrals poured in for the late October 2001 DTC people we in the next wave have grown more and more excited.

In December a number of the early November '01 DTCers received referrals, and then, today, December 30th, some mid-Novembers got the call.  I got so excited I had to call Holt and find out the latest news.

Mailed DTC vs. Logged-in DTC

I discovered that there are two dates associated with the DTC date, the date mailed, and the date logged into the CCAA in China.  Ours was mailed on November 21, 2001, but, as I just found out while talking with our agency, was not logged into CCAA until November 30th.  Many of the postings on the group website refers to the logged-in date.  Which means we're not part of the mid-November people, we're late November.

On the plus side, the CCAA seems to be sending out the referrals in waves every three weeks now, and hopefully we'll be in the next batch.  If not, we're going to have to apply for a new I-171H.  Ugh.

Home Study Addendum

Since Lise is now working as a law clerk -- She passed the Bar! --  we needed to have our Home Study updated.  Our social worker came out and we talked about the growing excitement, and showed her the kid's room.  A week later we received a one-page update on our Home Study, which we're to take with us to China.  We'll also need it if we have to apply for a new I-171H.

Our latest spend list is Here.
