A Travel Check List for Child
  Prescription
bullet Nystatin cream (100,000 U/gm for fungal diaper rash - prescription); apply three times a day for 7 days
bullet Elimite 5% Cream (prescription); For scabies. Apply from the neck down, leave on 10 hours over night, wash off (shower) in morning; one application only
bullet Tobrex Drops (prescription): For conjunctivitis ("pink eye"): 2 drops in each eye three times a day for one week. Look for yellow discharge from eye(s). Clean eye(s) off with cotton ball.
bullet Zithromax (prescription - 200 mg per 5 cc) For possible ear infections, pneumonia, bacterial infection (Do not reconstitute until ready to use)
bullet Furazolidone; This medication comes in liquid form, which can be easily taken by infants over 1 month of age or small children for treatment of giardiasis.

We did not, in fact, pick up any prescriptions for Autumn.  The pediatrician did not think it was wise to take mediation without seeing her.  And we spoke with several people who say that the adoption agency is really good and taking care of problems, if they occur while in China.  So we are going to trust our Agency.

Over the Counter
bullet Aquaphor or Cetaphil cream for eczematous skin (twice a day) -- did not see this at K-mart.
bullet Ayr, Nasal or Ocean saline nose drops
bullet Bacitracin or Neosporin or triple antibiotic ointment for cuts, scrapes, scratches

bullet A&D ointment, Balmex or Desitin (applied with each diaper change)

bullet Hydrocortisone 1% cream or ointment for eczema
bullet Kaolectrolyte packets to mixed with 8 oz. of bottled water (plain, bubble gum, and grape). Available at Rite Aid, Walgreen, CVS, Eckerd -- did not purchase this.  I've read that no baby will drink this stuff, so it is useless.  Better to just give them apple juice or Gatorade.
bullet T-Gel Shampoo by Neutrogena for treatment of cradle cap
bullet Tylenol, Motrin or Advil: (infant 80mg/0.8ml or children's Tylenol 160mg/5ml); Motrin (100mg/5ml). Dose based on weight: Tylenol dose 10 mg X kg of weight every 4 hours; Motrin or Advil 5mg X kg of weight every 6-8 hours (i.e. child weighs 8 kg; multiply 10 X 8 =80mg which is one infant dropperful of Tylenol)
Teething: use Tylenol before bed, Fever >101.5 degrees, or for Ear infection (you want to treat the pain!)
